OCALA, FLORIDA – Friday morning in the city of Ocala’s Forest High School, 19-year-old former student Sky Bouche entered the high school and fired a gun into a classroom shooting a 17-year-old student in the foot. This created chaos and pandemonium on the high school campus with police, Sheriff’s deputies, SWAT and FBI arriving on the scene along with frantic parents. The officer that prevented a possible massacre was Deputy Jim Long – the on-campus police officer – who compelled the suspect to surrender without a fight in under 5 minutes. The shooter is now in the Marion County jail. The irony is that the shooting took place on the same day as a statewide student walkout by high schoolers to protest gun violence at Florida schools.

  1. All school entrances should have metal detectors – just like in Northern innercity schools. If we had fixed the gun & knife problem in innercity Northern schools in the 1970s & 1980s, we would not be dealing with this crap today. The chickens have come home to roost. If we had always seen ourselves as Americans, the problem would have been fixed decades ago.

  2. The only solution to school violence is arming teachers or another words allowing them to carry weapons. If a teacher can legally carry outside of school they should certainly be able to carry inside of school I justify this by saying most shootings happen in scorn free zones. There is no reason a teacher who pass the background check who has a gun in their own should not be allowed to carry in school. Its for the safety of children if you truly want to keep us safe allow teachers to carry.

  4. This happened 8 minutes away from y school. WE were on secure perimeters all day. We weren’t allowed to use our phones or call or parents all day either although a email was sent out, I think that the red flag law would help. It is when the state takes away guns from those seen as unsuitable to own one due to unstable mental health. Once they see a red flag like that, guns are taken. I also think that bullying and social media has something to do with school shootings but, I am unsure what we can do about that.

  5. I still do not get how arming teachers solves anything, except maybe getting more people shot! It seems clear to me if everyone stopped to think about it instead of going full PRO GUNS, or ANTIGUNS, that we as a society have a serious issue with anger management, and domestic violence is high (and these people can get guns), road rage, etc. etc etc… it seems people are not taught at a young age how to deal with those feelings and emotions in a constructive way and end up exploding… whether or not it is.a gun free zone. The gun free argument makes no sense…It happens in Churches, and two on a military base which is DEFINITELY not a gun free zone… you could not have had more trained armed people at the site of the shooting. Yet 13 people died and 30 more were Injured. On a military base!!! Then it happened again!!! So I don’t shooters being like “oh I should go to a gun free zone”. They go where their anger takes them. That is my 2 cents.

  6. This former student wanted to be famous. So now he is famous. I think we need to stop making all these criminals famous like Charles Mason, every year someone had a documentary about this man who did not kill anyone but just told his follower they need to start a race war. I enjoy watching the news like everyone else, but violence is 95% news coverage. What got me in the interview, the child said that he was going to shoot up a church but that would not get news coverage. Really!
