OCALA, FLORIDA – Friday morning in the city of Ocala’s Forest High School, 19-year-old former student Sky Bouche entered the high school and fired a gun into a classroom shooting a 17-year-old student in the foot. This created chaos and pandemonium on the high school campus with police, Sheriff’s deputies, SWAT and FBI arriving on the scene along with frantic parents. The officer that prevented a possible massacre was Deputy Jim Long – the on-campus police officer – who compelled the suspect to surrender without a fight in under 5 minutes. The shooter is now in the Marion County jail. The irony is that the shooting took place on the same day as a statewide student walkout by high schoolers to protest gun violence at Florida schools.
