WASHINGTON, USA – Every foreign capital was rocked today by the news coming out of Washington that US President Donald Trump dishonored his foreign minister and top diplomat, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, by blatantly firing him before the World – not allowing Mr. Tillerson to retain his dignity and honor by permitting him to resign his high office. Sometime after 8 am today, Mr. Tillerson’s termination as US Secretary of State was announced by the Washington Post. Minutes after that, President Trump tweeted the termination. Then around 12 pm, Mr. Trump called Mr. Tillerson and fired him over the phone instead of in person. Ironically, by then Mr. Tillerson had been out of a job for several hours and was literally the last to know. Mr. Trump intends to replace Mr. Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo. Mr. Pompeo will be succeeded at the CIA as director by Deputy Director Gina Haspel. Both will need US Senate confirmation.

Sources of information for this report included MSNBC, ABC, Fox News and the Washington Post.

  1. I think President Donald Trump fired US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson because Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin asked Trump to do it as a favor. Tillerson had publicly accused Russia of involvement in the poisoning in Great Britain of a Russian spy in his daughter.

  2. Politics is always an affair that suits some interests at a time. Whether this termination was an impulsive or premeditated act, out of solid reasons or just for ‘show’, it certainly served President Trump’s political interests at that time. Of course we can speculate what made him do it, and a possibility would be to strengthen his position both domestic and internationally. Naming the CIA Director could also be a strategic move, he could prove to be a powerful ally.
